Thanking You, Thanking Me

This sound installation plays sampled "thank yous" from Oscar acceptance speeches delivered at the Academy Awards. Each celebrity is re-embodied in the form of a portable "thank-you" module, each of which consists of a speaker/sensor and assorted electronics. By lying the sensor (contact microphone) of a single module onto its own speaker, vibrations trigger the respective celebrity to self-congratulate him or herself indefinitely. Crossing multiple speakers and sensors, will create a multi-celebrity system in which gratuity is exchanged in a never-ending feedback loop.
