invent a process

our assignment was to invent a process for making something and then repeat it three times with the goal of three different results. i wanted to keep my process simple and also wanted to stay away from a digital process as i am not too savvy with the computer. i have recently become slightly obsessed with india ink, so i decided to use that.

i am very happy with and intruiged by my results. i am amazed that each one came out so different from the others. i also enjoyed having a structure like this for making the work; it frees you up to focus on what you are actually doing.

my process was as follows . . .

1. fill a pen cap half-way with india ink.

2. pour ink onto the center of a 9"x12" piece of watercolor paper.

3. rotate paper as if paper is on a spinning top but slower, for 1 minute.

4. at paper level, blow on ink from each side of the paper.

5. lay out to dry and repeat.

6. find favorite 6" square piece and cut out of each.
