The most obvious comparison is of course a spider's web.
Many sites act as hubs that link to a number of other sites.
Sites with heavy traffic would be the larger veins, hyperlinked with networks of lower traffic sites.
It seems like the deeper you get into the internet, you find more complexity but similar pattens throughout many sites.
Virtual patterns, networks, and communities can be formed almost as easily as they can be imagined. Millions of isolated points can be connected together to form larger ideas.
