Retrievr uses the Flickr API and some pretty remarkable scripting to allow a user to find a photo in the Flickr database by drawing a picture. It cleverly uses Flash for the drawing function and sprinkles on some AJAX to load the results from the search. It isn’t the most accurate, but as a proof-of-concept, it’s pretty amazing.
Favourite Website Awards
It takes a lot for a Flash site to impress me, and what struck me about the Favourite Website Awards was that I didn’t initially realize that it was Flash. It has a nice fluid multicolumn layout that adjusts nicely to do different browser sizes without being boxed in like most Flash sites. The type is about as legible as you can get until Flash 8 is adopted, and the interface enhancements on top of the html-like structure are quick and mostly painless.
