In reflection to Cloninger's Understanding the Web as Media , I think my website will be taking advantage of four characteristics of the web. These four characteristics are "Many to Many Networking," "Multimedia," "Database" and "Automation."

The purpose and function of my website is to allow viewers to be able to read the research articles written by our class and also be able to comment and rank each article. As a result, the commenting and ranking data will be recorded and reflected on the front page of the website.

The characteristic of "Many to Many Networking" will be reflected on the site's ability to keep a comment and ranking board for each article. Furthermore, the three newest comments will also be posted on the front page.

The characteristic of "Multimedia" will be reflected on the animated title banners and buttons of the site.

Finally, both the characteristic of "Database" and Automation" will be reflected on the site's front page, where the size and color of the rectangular buttons reflect the amount of comments and ranking left by the viewers of each article.

I am hoping that my website will be able to expand to the extent where new articles under the " history, technology, and social trends of the Internet" category can be added to the site and only the top ten ranked sites can be shown as one of the rectangular buttons on the front page. New categories can be created, commented and ranked the same way under a separate sub-site.
