This site is about indexing articles in an interesting way. For my website I have designed a simple box structured interface. Each box is designated for a certain kind of information. One for a, heading, body text, menu, comment box etc.
First I will need to create a database which is as Curt Cloninger describes in Understanding the Web as Media, a “many to many” and “automated” system. My site will use the database to automatically feed numerous articles to many people. The automation will come in the fact that the list of articles will be automatically updated to the menu so that the newest articles will show up first. Also the database will store comment information which users can post for each article. The data is mainly text based any will most likely not include any forms of multimedia such as flash, videos, etc. Any accompanying images that the article includes will be shown in a separate box to the right of the article as to not disrupt the reading flow for the user.
By using only the automated database structure for my site I am limiting myself to the content the site can provide but because the content my site provides is only text based with a few images, it serves me and the user better because it makes the site less complicated and easier to navigate. At the end it is about reading articles like an online magazine. Adding extra features would only be useful if the content I provided had some use for them.
