DESIGN | MEDIA ARTS 159 SPRING QUARTER 2008

            For my project I will be creating posters addressing the issue of Human Rights. These political posters will help bring light to the inconsistency and discrepancy seen around the world today in regards to this topic. I want to address the “basic needs” of the world’s population while maybe focusing in on certain areas. My main goal is to educate my audience on the existence of Human Rights violations and to hopefully move them to help do something about it. Even if no one takes action because of my posters, I will be content knowing that maybe I educated one more person on the inequality that exists in the world today.      

            To achieve my goal I will be working with handmade materials to create handmade posters. Through this medium I hope to begin to explore the possibilities and strengths of portraying my topic in this manner. Quite a bit of political activist posters are created in cheap handmade ways and in my work I wish to emulate this approach.
