I’ve always had issues with creating a portfolio site because I’m never sure of how I want to present myself and also if it has enough character and personality to it to define who I am. In the past, I’ve always had a bad habit of starting with a direction and never finishing. Never finishing because the most difficult person to work for is definitely myself. After countless version and revamps it become a big ball of frustration and I eventually kept it on hold.  In the beginnings of my quest for a portfolio site, the amount of changes that are made in a short amount of time were frequent. It was at one point, a chameleon that changed every week. Eventually it just consumed too much time and the growing server costs back then warded me off. I’ve never found a solution, and decided to develop more work to aid me in some kind of unifier. Recently, the ideas of developing a portfolio site is growing since more and more people that I’ve done work for have asked if they could see more. Will a steady flow of work I finally feel like I can create something fitting to my work. As portfolio grows I can consider creating something, hopefully, naturally fitting to my work.
In my portfolio site I’d like it keep it very simple and clean since my work itself is the feature, and also because I feel that I haven’t developed much of an aesthetic, so to unify everything a simple abstract graphic look I think would suit best. I think that was my largest problem in the past, because I tried to do too much. I should develop my site as I grow and not extrapolate too much. A full flash site I’ve learned that it takes too much effort to update and change, soo a bit of flash for the navigation would be fine or none at all. As for navigation I feel that hiding things and making it almost a game is just overkill and an obstacle for people who just want to look at work. I’d like to keep it straight forward and simple. Each piece would have a description on its own page instead of a list. Of course I’ve grown to like efficiency and speed, so optimizing it to the lowest file size and optimizing image quality would be a high priority.
