Abstract - Wi-Fi network community initiatives (30 seconds)

Wi-Fi = Wireless Fidelity = general term for wireless internet access

Wi-Fi network community initiatives = Wireless internet connecting members in local and global communities together and to immediate content

It's like the six-degrees of Kevin Bacon, except now it’s the narrowing of degrees of accessability to others and to specific content.
This allows society members to be more connected with each other, but are wi-fi communities a societal need, and who's policing it?

We'll examine the enabling technologies for ubquitious Wi-Fi and examine case studies of communities that have taken initiaves to estable Wi-Fi networks:

(1) San Francisco

(2) Florida

(3) Japan's NTT DoCoMo network vs. WiMax and other future technologies such as VOIP
