Assignment :
Parameterized Form + Macro/Micro
Write a program defining a system which generates near infinite variations on a core form. This exercise flows from the ideas presented in Karl Gerstner's Designing Programmes. Focus on a strong Macro composition with details at the micro level. The difference between macro and micro in relation to composition is defined well by Willi Kunz:
Macro:
explicit and obvious
overall format, basic structure
Micro:
subtle, sophisticated
perhaps only subconsciously perceptible
demands deeper study to be fully appreciated
details and compositional complexities
Export your forms to either Illustrator or Maya and refine the rendering within these environments.
Response/Concept:
Instead of completing the design within processing, the advantage of this assignment is to extend its design process outside of pure programming environment. I altered the project a little after the in-class presentation, and I decided to use processing in order to create the very basic element of the composition and used photoshop and illustrator to complete the bigger composition.
The applet changes its appearance over time and therefore there are several results.
