(Processing Applet) LEARNING TRAFFIC
|
assignment: Behavior + Adaptation
name: LEARNING TRAFFIC
Program: UNDERSTANDING SYMBOLS:
Supposing that you are having your first encounter with this culture and its symbols, and you have no one to tell you what they mean, how would you learn?
Perhaps you can figure out some by association.
Others may require watching, or being involved in trial and error.
Behavior:
They will drive by default.
The cars share the same behavior and aquired information.
If a collision occours they will remember the colors of the lights in both lanes.
When the program loads, they collide before any lights are turned on. They remember the danger of black lights so they don't drive when the light is black. They associate black with stopping.
If you add a color to any bulb on one of the traffic lights, they will assume it means go, since the other light is black, which means stop.
At this point, the lights can be toggled, causing the cars to start and stop in opposing lanes.
Beyond this, colors can still be added to the bulbs which mean stop, while traffic still flows to the colors that have been determined to mean go.
If the color which was a factor in determining meaning is changed, they will both drive and when a collision occours, they will determine that the most recent color change means go, while the other traffic light means stop.
If you toggle the light while a car is in the intersection and a collision occours, they determine it to be an accident, and dont change their understanding of the stop colors and go colors.
The top three black squares on the right bar allow you to select which bulbs on the facing traffic light that you want to change.
The bottom three three black squares on the right bar allow you to select which bulbs on the side facing traffic light that you want to change. After clicking a square click a color on the far left to color the bulb.
Toggle the lights with the black bar between the two traffic lights.
