DES|MA 189: Mobile Media Design - Spring Term 2003
Advances in wireless and sensor technology have brought about new devices that are small, wearable, mobile and linked to the internet. Cell phones, portable PCs, PDAs, wearable biosensors, GPS (Global Positioning Systems) and other devices are already on the market with new mobile technologies soon to appear.

In this course we will review current and future developments in mobile technology and examine the new aesthetic challenges that designers face when designing for mobile media. Course work will involve written research as well as the development of prototype designs. This is not a class about technology but will rather focus on design and aesthetic issues that confront today's designer.

Areas of study include:
- Design for small visual displays
- Fashion design for wearable technology
- Mobile design that integrates text, animation, video and audio
- Multi sensory interface design
