Viral

My project will be hybrid map displaying and illustrating a process. The process revolves around the idea of "Viral Media" or anything that spreads on the internet.
Viral is a project that wants to trace the steps and give a clearer view of what is really behind the mass infection that Viral media has caused on the internet.
Some of the topics include:

• viruses
• media/advertising
• links
• emails
• games
• etc.

The map will be a click through process will all viral media will start off at a center point at which the user can choose to click on whichever initial point and it will draw lines to the next step in the spread of that media. The map will move across the entire screen and will follow the users clicking.

I plan on using only CSS and Javascript to create the interface and maybe some animated GIF's to create some kinds of more complex motions. The interface will be clean, more like a interactive experience rather then a website.

The process behind Viral Media interests me only because it is interesting to see what kinds of information people invest time into spreading across networks around the world. Whether it be viruses for damaging computers and data or funny/wierd video and audio clips that people send everywhere to get their fifteen minutes of fame. Viral media is a major force, between what amateurs do and the professionals are able to pull off with Viral media, it is easy to see how it is the ultimate grass roots advertising scehme for anyone. Viral media is the way for anyone to get their message or product out.
