ASSIGNMENT 1 : Sound & ENVIRONMENT
Due Mon. October 10

In this assignment, each student will transform the hallway in Kinross South into an interactive environment. This is a quick exercise that is intended to emphasize the interaction while minimizing the technology. Bring in 10 sounds (as MP3 files) and a drawing that describes why and when each of those sounds will be activated in relation to a person (or people) in the hallway. On Monday, we will bring a computer and a portable amplifier to the hallway and we will "try out" your idea in order to see what is interesting, humorous, frustrating, surprising, banal, etc. Please put sufficient time and effort into your drawing (which can be done by hand or on a computer) so that your idea is coherent to those who read it.

By Wed. October 12, make a webpage on the class space with the following:

a. A brief text explaining your idea and considering the successes, failure, and surprises from Monday.
b. An image from your demonstration on Monday (Sean and John will be taking photos).
c. An MP3 file containing all of your sounds in sequence.
d. An MP3 of the sounds as they were played during your demonstration (Sean will record).
e. A thumbnail and large, readable version of your drawing/ schematic.
